Housing Issues

1.      Do you provide housing? How can I find housing?

There are two residence halls on campus, which are only for the international students. Students may also choose to live off-campus.

2.      Air Conditioning?

Now air conditioning is unavailable in dorms.

3.      Single, double, other?

Double room is provided for students.

4.      Shared bathroom?

Four students live in a flat and share one bathroom.

5.      Size of beds?

Size of beds is almost 1.2*2 M.

6.      Furnished, Unfurnished?

Beds, book desks, chairs, TV, bookshelves, cabinets, water heater etc. are available in a room.

7.      Internet access from rooms.

Internet access is in each room. RMB 50 is for the first month and after that RMB 30.

8.      Location of housing.

They are all on campus and take about 7 minutes to the ISC.

9.      If student housing, when can students move into the housing, First day?

The date is on students’ arrival.

10. How must the students pay for the housing? By semester, month, daily?

It is on your own will.

11. How can they pay? Credit Card, cash, check?

Students should pay accommodation by cash.

12. What are the different costs for housing?

It is RMB 600/per bed/per month, and almost RMB 50/per month for electricity fee.

13. Will the students be living with university students, or other International students?

The students live with other International students.

Orientation

1.      When students arrive, will they receive an orientation?

Before new semester starts, the ISC will hold a welcoming ceremony for all the students at university auditorium.

2.      What will the orientation cover?

In addition to a welcome speech for the students is delivered by director of the ISC, an introduction of HIT and curriculum, requirements during their studies and schedule of whole semester are also presented by the staff at the orientation.

3.      If orientation, when must students arrive for the orientation?

Students should register before the orientation at the ISC, and the details for registration of Year 2009 are as follows.

4.      Will students be picked up at the airport?

The group numbered above 5 people will be picked up at the airport within three days before registration date.

Problems

1.      If students have housing problems who should they speak to?

Students can contact the ISC or directly speak to the head of dorm.

2.      If students have an emergency who should they contact and what is the availability for this person?

Students should contact with the teachers who are in charge of your matters and

3.      If students have academic problems who should they speak to?

Students could talk with chief of Chinese language department or the head-teacher of their classes.

4.      If students have visa problems who should they speak to?

Students may solve problems about visa at 306 Room of the ISC.

5.      If students have health issues, who should they speak to?

Please see a doctor at university hospital on campus or call an emergency at 120.

 

Food

1.      Dose the university have student cafeterias?

Yes, there are 5 student cafeterias near the ISC on campus.

2.      How do students pay for them? Monthly pass and unlimited meals?

Students could apply for a meal card, and deposite money in it.

3.      When are the cafeterias open?

Convenient dining hall opens at 6:30 A.M and closes at 10 P.M, and others open at 7 A.M.

4.      If sick, is there a doctor on campus?

There is a university hospital on campus.

5.      Can the students drink the tap water?

Students can not drink the tap water directly, but there is free purified water at the ISC.

Academics

1.      Will HIT provide academic advisors for the students who study Chinese language?

A Head teacher of a class will be advisor for students study.

2.      How are the courses organized?

For elementary Chinese courses, we offer courses on comprehensive Chinese, listening and speaking.
